A man who allegedly terrorised a 12-year-old boy before being bitten on the face by a police dog on Saturday has been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing and common assault.
The 22-year-old man from Mirrabooka allegedly broke into a home in Donar Street in Innaloo where 12-year-old Danny Micco was home alone.
The man allegedly grabbed Danny and told him to be quiet while he went room-to-room in the house,allegedly stealing property and throwing it over the back fence.
The dog squad responded to an emergency call and arrived at the scene, where the man was seen attempting to flee over a wall at the rear of the property.
The man allegedly got into a struggle with the dog squad officer before being bitten on the face by police dog Freddie.
He was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment for the bite and another injury recieved during the burglary, however hospital staff were forced to sedate him after he became aggressive.
He was charged by police when he woke up on Sunday, and is scheduled to face Perth Magistrates Court on November 21.
