CHILD psychologist Dr Louise Porter will be hosting a workshop on Guiding Children’s Behaviour at the Busselton Campus on November 14.
The workshop is available to parents and caregivers who are looking to develop skills in guiding children when their behaviour is disruptive, and answer participants’ questions on some common behavioural issues.
Professionals across the South West from child care, education and the disability sector have jumped at the chance to attend the workshop locally.
South West Institute of Technology lecturer Carla Gillmore, organised for Dr Porter to present the workshop to members of the Busselton community and said she was excited to bring such a world renowned presenter to the Busselton Campus.
“I look forward to attending the workshop as a professional and as a parent,” Ms Gillmore said.
Dr Porter is an international speaker with more than 30 years’ experience in private practice and focuses on safeguarding children’s self-esteem, promoting their social skills, and supporting their resilience.
The Guiding Children’s Behaviour workshop compares and contrasts two styles of discipline, controlling discipline and a guidance approach.
The guidance approach gives parents and caregivers skills to support children aged zero to eight years to get back in command of themselves and return to considerate behaviour.
Session times run from Thursday November 13 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm or Friday November 14 from 9.00am to 12.00pm.
