THE Busselton and Margaret River swimming clubs joined forces on the weekend to test their racing skills and recognise the achievements of their top young swimmers.
Forty swimmers aged between seven and 17 participated in a Personal Best Challenge at the Geographe Leisure Centre where swimmers got to experience a competition environment and improve on their previous performances.
Swimmers from the newly formed Margaret River Swimming Club then joined the Busselton swimmers for a breakfast where 11 talented young athletes were presented with Australian Junior Excellence Program Awards.
The JX Awards recognise swimmers aged nine to 13 who attained excellent results during the 2013-2014 long course season.
Overall, Busselton Swimming Club had 20 past and present swimmers achieve a JX Award. The swimmers who received their awards at Saturday’s event were Hannah Greenfield, Cara Viljoen, Hannah Taylor, Diz Morrant, Sarah Van Den Berg, Tessa Viljoen, Ryan Van Den Berg, Angus Johnston-Walker, Maddy Johnston-Walker and Piper Williams.
Also receiving her JX award on the day was former Busselton member, and current Margaret River swimmer, Ester Pedrick.
