A PATCHED member of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang had his vehicle seized for 28 days after facing charges of reckless driving in Busselton.
Police said the accused was driving a Holden Monaro coupe in the Hungry Jacks car park on Albert Street around 8pm on Tuesday October 28 when he revved the engine of the vehicle in such a manner as to attract the attention of police.
At the time there were several other cars driving in the car park and the drive-through lanes, as well as families dining inside and outside of both Hungry Jacks and McDonald’s.
Police were in a nearby car park when the accused continued to rev his vehicle’s V8 engine, which had a loud twin exhaust system, while waiting to exit the car park on Albert Street.
Police said once the exit was clear the accused accelerated the vehicle hard to the left, in a westerly direction on Albert Street and in doing so caused the rear wheels to spin which created excessive noise and smoke.
“The vehicle then drifted across both westerly lanes, across the white hatched median strip and over onto the eastbound lanes facing oncoming traffic,” Busselton’s officer in charge Senior Sergeant Steve Principe said.
“The tyres of the vehicle left visible marks across all three lanes and police followed the vehicle west on Albert Street, south on West Street and stopped the vehicle on Barlee Street.”
Senior Sergeant Principe said the man’s response to the charges was that he “didn’t mean to.”
The accused will face court on December 9.
