The Busselton Swimming Club continued its recent resurgence by sending 30 swimmers to the Bunbury Open Carnival at the South West Sports Centre on Sunday.
It was the club’s largest participation in a swim meet in recent history and the presence of so many Busselton swimmers was acknowledged and welcomed by meet organisers.
Half of the Busselton swimmers competed for the first time and showed how committed they were to the sport.
All of the first-time competitors swam great and some even joined the club’s more experienced swimmers on the medal tally.
Overall, the club took home 14 individual medals and four relay medals.
Maddy Johnston-Walker, Amy Kerr, Neve McDonald, Cara Viljoen and Tessa Viljoen all came away with multiple medals and 16 swimmers also took home medals for excellent performances in the team relays.
The club was very impressed with the performance from their new young swimmers and hope to see them develop their race skills throughout the 2014-2015 season.
