DUNSBOROUGH and Districts Country Club ladies bowling section held their second two day carnival with 22 teams travelling more than 3150 kilometres to compete.
Half of the competitors were from Perth and country teams made up the other half of nominated teams.
The organiser of the event was successful in arranging good weather although the renowned Dunsborough wind was confusing for some of the teams especially the champions from last year who struggled throughout the carnival.
The most anticipated game was in the first round with last year’s first and second placed teams facing off.
Top players Lisa Featherby from Mosman Park drew Kerry Scott from Capel with the latter having a win and looking dangerous for the carnival title.
At the end of the first day, six teams were heading for the winners lounge but just to confuse everyone again, the wind changed direction the next morning.
Very good games were played by very good players and it wasn’t until the last game that the winners were determined.
The game of the day involved the Mosman Park team this time against the Corrie Van den Heuvel team from Busselton.
The former looked like winning but Busselton fought back with great determination, stole the game and because of that were runners-up for the carnival.
Meadow Springs became the new champions, with the Capel team led by Kerry Scott coming in third and Sorrento placing fourth.
The bowlers also enjoyed local wine, relish and goats cheese tasting along with music entertainment in the evening.
The organisers thank Bendigo Bank, Inspiration Paint, Nick Goode and Simone Perele for their ongoing support and sponsorship.
