INDONESIAN students filled a Busselton campsite for the first time last week as they took a five day holiday from their exchange program.
The group of 18 students are part of the Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program funded by the government.
Aged 21 to 25, the students spend two months between October and December in Australia undertaking work placements, home stays, cultural performances and visits to local schools and communities.
Eighteen Australians then undertake a similar program in Indonesia.
The Indonesian group leader Fajri Usman said he had never visited Busselton before and his favourite experience was sheep shearing in Yallingup.
“I got to bottle feed a lamb and it was so cute, I would love to come back here one day,” Mr Usman said.
Mr Usman also enjoyed catching the train along Busselton jetty.
An Indonesian television station was following the exchange program as part of a one off documentary series and conducted interviews at the Jetty.
Sandy Bay Holiday Park staff member Leonie Don said it was awesome to have the group visit the week before leavers and watch them having fun with various activities.
“It was a random booking and the first time the program has visited Busselton,” Mrs Don said.
“They seemed to enjoy their stay here and said they would visit again in five years time.”
