PYRAMIDS beach in Port Bouvard is expected to remain closed for at least 24 hours after a teenager was bitten by a shark on Saturday morning.
The incident happened about 6am at the popular beach when a 13-year-old boy was reportedly bitten on the leg.
Surf Life Saving WA (SLSWA) said the boy is in a stable condition after being treated at the scene by Port Bouvard lifesavers.
His injury is not considered to be serious.
City of Mandurah rangers have closed the beach and a helicopter is patrolling the nearby coastline.
The beach is due to host an event next weekend as part of Disability Awareness Week.
A spokesperson for Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving Club declined to comment on whether the injured boy was a member of the local organisation.
