ARSON squad detectives are investigating a caravan fire that resulted in a man found dead in Augusta on Tuesday night.
The Augusta volunteer fire and emergency services brigade received a triple 000 call at 11.27pm where the caller reported a caravan had been set on fire in a caravan park on Bussell Highway.
Two fire trucks attended and the fire was extinguished by 1.20am on Wednesday morning.
A man from the caravan park, who did not wish to be named, said the deceased man was an old Augusta resident who had been at the site “on and off for the last couple of years”.
“He will be sorely missed,” the man said.
