Owners of the bed and breakfast destroyed in a fire thank the “valiant efforts of the brave and committed” fire fighters who attended the blaze.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services placed Gunyulgup Valley Drive in Yallingup on high alert on January 5 when a bush fire started in the area.
Cairnhill Homestead owners Debbie and Richard Camm said while they remain devastated by the loss of their home they were extremely appreciative of the outstanding efforts of the large number of fire-fighters, mostly volunteers who attended and brought the fire under control.
“While it was not possible to save our home, we are extremely thankful the fire apparently starting from a Western Power pole had virtually no direct effect on any other properties, and no one was seriously injured,” they said.
Mr and Mrs Camm also said the efforts of the fire-fighters to save a few of their possessions and a significant amount of important paperwork was greatly appreciated.
“We also extend our thanks to the people of Yallingup, Dunsborough and areas further a field for their support, offers of assistance and best wishes,” Mr and Mrs Camm said.
