COUNCIL will vote to include a provision that will not grant planning approval for a pre-fabricated building unless it’s consistent with existing buildings in that locality.
This change has come about in response to community concern over transportable or pre-fabricated buildings being built in the Port Geographe village centre.
If the recommendation is passed at the next council meeting on January 28 the city will have the power to give the community a chance to have their say on any development of a pre-fabricated development.
A transportable dwelling means a structure which is designed for ease of transporting from one location.
Pre-fabricated buildings are a section of a building which is manufactured in advance, either in whole or in sections that can be easily transported and assembled.
