The Mayor of Boston is not impressed with his people, who have responded to one of the city's whitest winters on record by jumping out of windows - for fun.
Confronted with more than 1.5 metres of snow this month alone, Bostonites have struggled to contain their urge to plough head first into deep drifts of the white stuff.
Videos of their leaps have spawned a new social media craze in the tradition of planking, prompting Mayor Marty Walsh to call on citizens to stop being so reckless.
"I'm asking people to stop their nonsense right now," he told the Boston Herald. "These are adults jumping out windows.
"It's a foolish thing to do and you could kill yourself."
Snow-jumping is exactly as it sounds. People are jumping not only out of windows, but off verandahs and even roofs into very deep drifts of powdery snow.
Then they are posting their videos on YouTube and Facebook to be shared.
The cold snaps in the eastern United States have seen weather records tumble this winter.
Boston has recorded its highest February snowfall on record - and second highest winter snowfall, with 2.4 metres, according to the US National Weather Service.
The city has also had its coldest day since 2004, with a bone chilling low of minus 19 degrees in the early hours of Monday.
Planking involved people lying horizontally, face down, with their hands by their sides in all sorts of unusual, and sometimes dangerous, locations. It took off on social media in 2009 and spread around the world.
There's little chance of "snow-jumping" finding the same success in Sydney.
