THE Busselton Bullets amazing season has come to an end after their preliminary final loss to Bulls Maroon in the Bunbury Basketbell Association.
Busselton was playing for its spot in the grand final, however went down gallantly to a stronger Bulls' outfit, going down 62 to 39.
Adam Dehring played a stellar game and racked up 28 points for Busselton.
Dehring was well supported by youngster Jaylen Hoffman, while Dylan Ness and Jamie Brown did all he could against a much stronger Bulls’ opponent.
For Bulls Marron, Jordan Hickert showed his class amassing 28 points, including four three-pointers.
Busselton coach Paul Dugan said he was extremely proud of his team’s efforts.
Dugan said his team asked some serious questions of their opponents, however they had been outclassed.
He said to hold Bulls to 62 points was a fantastic effort, however his team’s inability to shoot accurately had cost them
“To keep them to 62 points was a great effort, and it’s something our team prides itself on – keeping teams to around 60 points a game,” Dugan said.
Star players Todd Earle and Damien Lee both missed the game, however Dugan said all of his players stepped up in their absence.
Looking back on his team’s season campaign, Dugan said he could not have asked anymore of his players and credited their will to learn and compete as being a major reason for their success this season.
“We didn’t take out luck during the game and sometimes that’s basketball,” he said.
“Sometimes you can take as many shots as you want but sometimes they just don’t go in.”
Dugan credited the support of the Busselton basketball community for their unwavering support and well wishes during the year.
He said the community was “tight-knit” and had followed and supported the Busselton Bullets exceptionally.
