DUNSBOROUGH Zonta Club will celebrate International Women’s Day with an inspiring guest speaker at Palmers Winery.
International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
The 2015 theme ‘Make It Happen’ encourages effective action for advancing and recognising women.
On March 8 the Zonta group will host a breakfast from 8am to 11am.
Vasse MLA Libby Mettam will speak about the club’s goal for 2014 to 2016 conviction, commitment and courage.
Zonta Club of Dunsborough president Linley Scott said the breakfast would honour and celebrate the achievements of women in the area and members encouraged all locals to attend.
“Each year at the breakfast the club awards a local teenager with the scholarship of excellence award which offers $2000 towards university fees,” Ms Scott said.
“The award recognises community minded students from the Dunsborough and Busselton region who achieved outstanding marks at school.”
Raffle tickets will also be sold on the day with proceeds helping mothers attend a St John of God first aid course.
Throughout the year the Dunsborough Zonta Club select, fund and participate in community projects to promote women’s economic self-sufficiency, access to education and health care and the elimination of violence against women.
Each year, Dunsborough Zontians dedicate thousands of volunteer hours and millions of dollars to effecting these changes, while the Zonta International Foundation programs impact these issues on a global level.
