THE City of Busselton has approved planning consent for a new primary school in Dunsborough.
Cornerstone Christian College in West Busselton lodged an application with council to build a school in Quedjinup.
Cornerstone Christian College Community Development Officer Filip Hansen said the school was in the final stages of planning and if everything went according to plan, they hoped to go to tender within the next month.
“Our aim to open the school in February 2016,” Mr Hansen said.
Mr Hansen said the design of the new school was eco-friendly as well as solar passive with both complimenting and capitalising on the beautiful natural bush setting surrounding the school.
“We are planning to develop a nature-playground as well as a community garden,” he said.
According to Mr Hansen when the school opens in 2016 they hope to cater for approximately 80 students from K-2.
“By the time year 6 is rolled out in 2020 we are hoping to cater for approximately 210 students from K-6,” he said.
