AFTER years of clubs calling on the South West Soccer Association to form a masters league, 2015 has finally welcomed one to the season's fixtures.
Only Geographe Bay, Busselton, Bunbury United and Eaton Dardanup are in the fixtures but if the first round between Geographe and Busselton is anything to go by then it won't be long before more clubs join the competition.
This really was a good game with both teams giving their all in a local derby which Geographe Bay Seasiders ran out three goals to two winners.
The first half saw Geographe with the more experienced line up than their opponents with a two goal advantage thanks to Ricardo Rengifo and Brett Moon.
However Gary Norden pulled one back for Busselton with a long range effort that Geographe's goal keeper Ali Deas could not keep out.
Then just before half time Geographe went further ahead with Mick Williamson converting a penalty late in the half taking the hosts in at half time three goals to one in front.
In the second half Busselton threw everything at Geographe and a long range effort from Peter McClurg meant Geographe had to dig deep to hold on for a victory.
It was McClurg again causing problems with an effort crashing against the post.
Geographe had a chance to put the game out of reach for Busselton when they were awarded a second penalty only for Ricardo Rengifo to miss the golden opportunity.
While it was a great save by the Busselton goalkeeper, they could not take over the match with Geographe claiming the three points.
The Retravision Man of the match for Geographe Bay was Tom Light with an outstanding performance.
