The 2015 season of the Busselton District Junior Football Association competition kicked off in style on Saturday, with games played in Busselton, Vasse and Dunsborough.
In glorious sunshine, the association celebrated the start of its 60th year of competition in the Busselton region with 15 hard-fought games.
One of the games of the round was in the year 9/10 league, with Wanderers holding off a gallant Rovers team to win by seven points at Lou Weston Oval.
Wanderers coach Daniel Delaney was pleased with the effort by his players across the four quarters, but for Rovers coach, Greg Timms, there was a lot to like about the way his charges went about it for the entire game, with small skill errors ending up the difference between the teams.
The Busselton Dunsborough Mail player of the week was centreman Wilson Clarke, from Vasse's year 5/6 side.
At Cape Naturalist College the Royals took on the Towns with Royals' number eight playing a great game.
Wilson showed a lot of composure under pressure and continually found a team mate with his precise kicking skills.
His ability to chase down an opponent was also a highlight, probably learned by watching his favourite team, the Fremantle Dockers.
When asked about what he enjoys most about football, Wilson cited teamwork as the thing he loves most, with kicking the ball a close second.
Coach Glenn Jones will be pleased to have a player with Wilson's skills and attitude in his team each week.
Congratulations, Wilson, for being the "Junior Player of the Week" for round one.
