THIS weekend saw the start of the junior fixtures for the hockey season at the Busselton Hockey Stadium.
It was an exciting start for Cavaliers Hockey Club as the games started with a derby of both the club’s year 7-8 girls and year 7-8 boys teams playing each other.
Although it was a rather chilly start for the girls the weather soon turned up the heat and proved to be quite a warm day for all the players.
Results for the year 7-8 girls battle resulted in 5 - 0 win to the Cavaliers Orange Team over the Cavaliers White team.
Yet this did not reflect a true snapshot of the game.
The white girls team did well defending and keeping the orange players at bay with a 2-0 half time score - but the experience of the orange team in the end shone through.
Goal scores were Aillie McMahon, Eryn McMahon, Oliva Lee and Lux William (2)
Best players for the game were Aillie McMahon, Maddie Fenwick and Lux Williams from the Cavaliers Orange team and Mckayla Charsley, Paris Sparkes and Liliy Burns for the Cavaliers White Team.
The boys played directly after and provided quite an even battle with both teams having their share of play and attempts at goals.
Results for the year 7-8 Boys resulted in a 3-2 win to the Cavaliers White team over the Cavaliers Orange Team.
Goal scorers were Bradley Barter and Jackson Bird for the orange team and Toby Neill and Tom Row (2) of the white team.
Best players for the game were Jackson Bird, Kane Watson, Seb Oates for the Cavaliers orange team and Toby Neill, Josh Whirledge and Tom Rowe for the Cavaliers White team.
