There were ten giant pumpkins entered in the Collie Agricultural Society pumpkin growing competition but no Cinderella was in sight at the Wallsend building on Saturday.
The winning pumpkin was grown by Lawrie Roberts and it weighed a massive 27 kilograms.
Mr Roberts also recently won the Worsley Pumpkin Competition with the same pumpkin.
The winner took home a 30 dollar gift voucher for Chappell Landscaping which was donated by Tom and Barbara Chappell, and a double pass to the 2015 Collie Show.
Everyone who attended the Collie Country Markets also received a free Pumpkin Recipe Book which was compiled by Collie Agricultural Society Committee members.
PUMPKIN RISOTTO RECIPE
1 cup of arborio rice
1 onion, finely diced
2tsp butter
1tsp minced garlic
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Olive oil
1/2 cup of white wine
2 cups pumpkin, diced
1L vegetable or chicken stock
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Drizzle the pumpkin in olive oil, salt and pepper, place it in an oven pre-heated to 180C and bake until browned. In a large saucepan, heat some olive oil and one teaspoon of butter until heated. Add onion and garlic and stir until the onion is translucent. Add the rice and stir until just browned before adding the white wine and stir continuously. Once the wine is absorbed, start adding the stock one cup at a time, stirring continuously until absorbed before adding more stock. Continue this step until all of the stock has been absorbed into the rice. Finally, add the pumpkin, Parmesan and remainder of the butter (one teaspoon) and stir through to combine.
