Brisbane's only dedicated video gaming bar will close its doors on Sunday.
The Mana Bar has been a popular Fortitude Valley hang out since it opened five years ago.
The tiny space on Brunswick Street held a maximum of 60 people, and was kitted out with gaming consoles and pop culture memorabilia.
It was one of the first Brisbane venues that opened up under the "small bar" category of liquor licence that came into effect in 2009.
The Junk Bar at Ashgrove and The Scratch Bar at Milton are other examples of boutique bars, often catering to niche clientele with live music and craft beers.
The owners of the Mana Bar - who go by their gaming handles Yug, Pras and Yahtzee - made the brief announcement on the bar's Facebook page, thanking "everyone who's made it the sweet ride it was".
They also included a quote from the epilogue of a David Eddings fantasy novel, Seeress of Kell:
"Then, with the God-light bathing their faces, the three friends started down from the snowy hilltop to view that miracle, which, though it was most commonplace, was a miracle nonetheless.
"And so, my children, the time has come to close the book. There will be other tales and other stories, but this tale is finished. The End."
Fans have flooded the page with commiserations, but some critics have suggested the bar was too small and the drinks too expensive to be sustainable.
