SOUTH West residents have been warned to switch off their reticulation systems from June 1 when the water sprinkler ban starts.
The ban runs until August 31 and penalties of $100 will be applied to people and businesses caught using their sprinkler system.
The ban will apply to households, local governments, schools, golf courses, government departments, universities, TAFE campuses, major parks, and businesses watering non commercial turf, lawn and gardens.
Water Minister Mia Davies said that gardens in the South West receive enough water from winter rainfall and there was no need for additional watering during the cooler months.
“People are reminded to switch off their irrigation systems before June 1 to save precious water again this year.”
Bores can be run during the ban period for installation, maintenance, testing or repair, but use must be before 9am or after 6pm on a rostered water day for two minutes at each station.
