THE Busselton Magpies are still fifth on the ladder after playing Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Saturday.
It was a bad start to the club with the colts losing by 46 points.
The Magpies were on the back-foot from the start with HBL doubling their score in the first half.
Magpies provided more competition in the third quarter with both teams kicking three goals.
However, HBL kicked away in the last term with two goals five to Busselton's one goal two.
The final score was 10.11.71 to 17.15.117.
It was not much better for the reserves as they went down by 15 points.
The home side started well, kicking five goals one, to one goal six in the first quarter.
HBL were trying to kick themselves out of the game with eight behinds in the second quarter to just three goals.
Busselton managed to stay in front by half time with their accurate two goals in the second term.
The match really hampered down in the second half with Busselton not scoring in the third term and HBL unable to convert with only one goal and four behinds.
In the end it was the opponents behinds which got them over line kicking four goals five to Busselton's three goals one.
The final score was 10.2.62 to 9.23.77.
The day ended on a good note with the league taking out a win against HBL.
It was the home side which was missing their chances on the score board with the first quarter reaching one goal eight to the opponents two goals.
HBL ran over the top of the Magpies in the second term kicking four goals two to Busselton's two goals two.
The lead changed again in the third quarter with Magpies kicking three goals two.
The last quarter was much the same with the home side kicking three goals two to HBL's two goals.
The final score was 9.14.68 to 9.4.58.
Busselton will travel to Collie next week to take on the unpredictable Eagles.
