Round 4 of the Busselton District Junior Football Association kicked off with two Friday night games at Bovell Ovals and continued into Saturday which was certainly more comfortable, weather-wise, than the previous one.
The Year 7-8 competition is a race in two, after Round 4, with the two Dunsborough teams sitting at the top the ladder.
The derby clash in Round 7 will go someway to giving bragging rights to either the Blue or the White team, providing they both continue on their winning ways.
Vasse Blue are currently in third position, but they had the bye on the weekend, and this may well result in a dip to fifth position, depending on other results.
Things are continuing to heat up in the Years 9-10 competition, with some great footy being played by well-coached, committed and skilful teams.
The clash of the round saw the previously undefeated Wanderers get pummelled from start to finish by a fantastic Countrys team.
The 60-point final margin reflected the fanaticism of the Country players to carry out coach Dave Boyle's instructions and he must have been thrilled with the 'run and stun' strategy employed all over the field.
Wanderers simply had no answer to the leg speed of their opponents and looked lethargic.
They will have to come more ready to play, in future, if they want to mix it with the big boys in this age group.
For the winners, Tom Evans and Leon Vardy both played four good quarters and ruckman Nathan Scott controlled the game with strong play through the middle.
The Busselton Dunsborough Mail Junior Player of the Week for Round 4 is Vasse Royals Year 5-6 player Angus Telchadder.
The full-back, with the lucky number 13 on his back, has played strongly throughout the first few rounds of the 2015 competition and enjoys the hard running and good tackling skills needed to play the game.
Coach Glenn Jones has taught Angus a lot about the game and he also picks up some tips while watching his favourite AFL player, Nat Fyfe.
The Vasse Primary School Year 6 player simply loves playing footy and enjoys reeling in big fish when he's not reeling in opposition full-forwards.
