BUSSELTON Art Society could face losing the lease on Queen Street if council vote against the officer’s recommendation at tonight’s council meeting.
The City of Busselton leases both the southern Police Sergeants Cottages located within the Artgeo Cultural Complex at 4 Queen Street.
The southern cottage is occupied by the Busselton Art Society and their lease expired on March 31.
Busselton Art Society president Joan Kent said she would like the new lease term to be for ten years.
“In the past we have been offered three years but we want five years with the option to continue for a further five,” Ms Kent said.
“We are a very prominent part of the city’s culture and this new lease agreement would take the pressure off group members.”
Council will vote tonight and could resolve not to enter into a lease with the art society and re-advertise the availability of the premises.
