THE Busselton branch of the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service was lifted to new heights last week after receiving a large donation.
The Lions Club raised $10,000 for the organisation after several members used the service in the last six months.
Geoffery Littlefair from the Lions Club said they wanted to show their appreciation.
In the South West around three patients a day are transferred to hospitals by the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service and 13 per cent were children aged under 15.
The Royal Flying Doctor’s Service fundraising team’s senior vice president Alison Cunningham said 20 per cent of the budget was fundraised through the community.
The donation was made at a film premier fundraiser on May 21 at the Orana Cinema.
“The film and raffle raised over $3,800 and to cap the evening off the Lions Club made an amazingly generous donation so it was quite a night,” she said.
It was the first time the Busselton branch had received a five figure donation and Ms Cunningham would like to thank all those who supported the fundraiser.
