FROM what started as concern for greyhounds has now become an adoption and awareness program in Busselton.
Jackie Kemp and Lesley Rouvray started Busselton Greyhound Awareness about 18 months ago which helps greyhounds who are no longer racing find new homes.
Ms Kemp said once greyhounds were no longer needed to race many of them were killed if they cannot be re-homed.
“They are a beautiful breed and make lovely pets,” she said.
She said in the last 12 months they had been able to find a home for 15 greyhounds in the area.
To help raise awareness of the group Ms Kemp and Ms Rouvray will be hosting a walk on Sunday.
Ms Kemp said any dog owners can come to the Busselton foreshore and join in the walk for awareness.
It will start at 10am from the Equinox Café.
