POPULAR Dunsborough café Samudra is set to shut its doors for the last time on Sunday June 28, and while the café is closing the yoga centre and store remain open.
General manager Shelby Walsh said it was hard saying goodbye to all the regular customers who used the café.
“I would like to thank them very much,” she said.
While there wasn’t a big enough raw food movement in Dunsborough to develop the business Ms Walsh said they had looked at alternative ways to grow.
Over the last two years she had seen Samudra expand from a tiny café into the establishment it has become today.
The café extended its small walls into a much bigger space using recycled timber from the original Busselton Jetty and other used materials.
It introduced the yoga centre, an organic clothing store and added a broader range of organic options to its menu.
Yogis, who frequented the yoga school at Samudra, helped it become its own small community within the heart of Dunsborough, Ms Walsh said.
“People would come to Samudra to buy their clothing, do a yoga class then come into the café for organic food or a chai.”
Ms Walsh said the café was also popular with people who had special dietary requirements she said they would come in knowing they could get food they could eat.
Like many small businesses in the area Ms Walsh said the café was seasonal which made it challenging during the off peak times.
“Remember to support local,” she said.
