For the last month, RadioWest Merredin has hosted events to raise funds for Give Me 5 for Kids.
Each year, RadioWest raises funds for the Princess Margaret Hospital Regional Assistance Fund, which helps provide the community with aid and support to sick children and their families in times of need.
Events in Merredin for the fundraiser this year included a Give Me 5 for Kids raffle, a quiz night auction which raised about $8000, a sausage sizzle and cake stall at Two Dogs Home Timber and Hardware which raised about $700, a 70s and 80s retro night this Friday, a kids’ fun day which raised about $1000, a Gold Coin Trail that raised about $1000 raised, school free dress days and the Mukinbudin Lap-a-thon.
With a target of $10,000, RadioWest Merredin has smashed that figure, with around $20, 000 raised so far.
Last week, about 100 people turned out to Merredin’s Apex Park for the kids’ fun day with bouncy castles, giant chess, sumo wrestling and a fun activities put on by Crazy Fun Amusement Hire.
There was also a petting zoo ran by Sarah’s Cuddly Creatures Mobile Farm, a sausage sizzle ran by the Merredin Men’s Shed, lolly bags and a colouring-in competition keeping all the children entertained throughout the day.
The winners of the colouring-in competition were Stella Major (kindergarten), Hughie Fardell (pre-primary), Ruby Truglio (years 1-3) and Jessica Manoni (year 4 and up).
RadioWest Merredin thanked Target Country Merredin for the gift voucher prizes, Crazy Fun Amusement Hire for the games, Supa IGA, the Merredin Men’s Shed Corey from CRC, Sarah’s Cuddly Creatures Mobile Farm, as well as all those who volunteered their time at the fun day.
RadioWest Merredin’s Wake Up With Anthony host Anthony Tilli said it was always a pleasure to be a part of the Give Me 5 for Kids fundraising event.
“I am once again blown away by the support and generosity of Merredin and the Central Wheatbelt communities,” he said.
“Such an amazing effort has been put towards fundraising for the PMH Regional Assistance Fund.”
