THE Busselton Soccer Club said goodbye to one of its rising “gals” Ariana Longmore who is about to jet off on the experience of a lifetime.
Eighteen year old Ms Longmore earned herself a scholarship to play soccer in the USA at Dodge City Community College in Kansas.
It was the pick of the bunch for Ms Longmore who received 78 offers from schools across the USA and Canada.
“I’ll be there for two years and if I want to continue on for another two years I can go to another university,” she said.
Ms Longmore will study cinematic media and mass communications in addition to playing soccer for the college.
She said it was her teacher Ms Markwell at Cape Nautraliste College who made her love the media so much.
“I will be studying directing and producing as well as training and playing soccer,” she said.
“I want the whole American college experience.”
Although Ms Longmore is looking forward to experiencing college life in the states she said she will miss Busselton’s lifestyle along with her family and friends.
“I will miss my cat Kipper, family, friends and the weather,” she said.
“I don’t know how I will go over there it’ll be snowing in January.”
Ms Longmore said if she wasn’t going to America she would be studying mass communications at Edith Cowan University next year.
“This is a better opportunity and experience to be able to play soccer there and go to the gym and train everyday,” she said.
Her mum Vicky Dawson said it had just hit that her daughter would be leaving next Wednesday and she had shed her first tears since the news of her departure.
“Soccer is big there the American girls just won the World Cup so it’s a massive sport and she’ll have opportunities to do other things,” she said.
Ms Longmore would like to thank her family, the Busselton Soccer Club, her coaches, the soccer gals as well as her teachers Ms Markwell and Mr Hopkins.
