A BUSSELTON man who stole a ute while his partner distracted the owner has been charged with two counts of stealing and appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court last Friday.
At 10am on August 12 a 26-year-old woman approached the door of an Acton Park farmhouse and asked a worker if he could fill up her water bottle.
Police alleged while the worker filled the bottle a 27-year-old man stole the ute from a neighbouring shed.
According to police the ute was used that night by the duo to steal a jet ski from Bunbury.
Police attended an Abbey home the next day for another matter and saw the stolen ute on the driveway.
When they later returned to investigate the vehicle it had been moved to a nearby beach car park.
Busselton police acting senior sergeant Justin Budden said after retrieving the vehicle police went back to search the Abbey home and found drugs, drug paraphernalia, an electric shock weapon and the jet ski.
He said the drugs, paraphernalia and weapon were still under investigation.
Troy Strawbridge, 27, and the woman have been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and stealing.
Strawbridge was remanded in custody to seek legal advice until his next court date and the woman is yet to appear.
Senior sergeant Budden said he would like to thank the community for submitting information which helped police resolve crimes quickly.
