Geographe Bay Premier Reserve Ladies soccer team continue to impress with their show of determination against some of the top teams in their final round of fixtured games.
It was perfect weather conditions on Sunday with Geo Bay hosting Bunbury Dynamos at Bovell Park. Second on the ladder Dynamos needed a win to stay in any sort of contention of the League title and by all accounts the odds were favouring the Mighty Moes.
Geographe Bay could only field the bare 11 players as injuries continue to take their toll on the team, however there was no rest for the backline four; Sarah Kelly, Rose Williamson, Dominique Boshoff and Jess Avery who had no choice but to play with their injuries, however they showed their passion for the game and did an outstanding job along with goalkeeper Tegan Hollett, to keep Dynamos from scoring in the first half. Dynamos played well with their experienced midfield players working well together to feed the ball through to their strikers, but it was Geo Bay that ended up turning the tables and surprised Dynamos with the first goal of the game when fast paced Ashley Hollett scored.
In reality it was a game that anyone could have won with both sides playing well and having their chances but 35 minutes into the second half it was Dynamos that levelled the score. A free kick was awarded which the defence were unable to clear the ball enabling one of the Dynamos players to run onto the ball and score. Dynamos were spurred on by this and mounted continued attacks and came close to scoring on several occasions with the ball just going marginally wide.
Geo Bay's Laurel Attwell, Samantha Bailee, Lauren Valli and Emma Watene continued to work tirelessly in midfield attacking and defending. Geo were unlucky not to go 2 goals up when a long kick from keeper Tegan Hollett found Sister Ashlee Hollett to run onto, which she did and scored a great goal, only for it to be disallowed by a contentious offside decision.
When the final whistle came the score was level at 1-1 which was a great result for Geo with Coach Maurice Krakowczyk praising every single Player with his great Performance.
Christian & Co Electrical Player of the Day was awarded to Ashlee Hollett.
Geo Bay play the last Home game this Sunday against Balingup at 11am .
