AUGUST 27 will go down in the history book as Busselton's hottest August day on record.
The temperature peaked at 23.1 degrees, beating the previous record of 21.9 recorded on August 10, 2014.
The average maximum temperature in August 2015 of 17.6 was also higher than all other Augusts, where the average is 17.4 degrees.
The nights were also marginally warmer than normal with the average minimum temperate of 7.3 degrees last month just hotter the long-term August minimum temperature average of 7.2 degrees.
The temperature fell to just 2.2 degrees on the night of August 9 and, while not August, a minimum of 1.3 degrees was recorded on Tuesday night.
The substantial rainfalls of 14 millimetres helped to lift the month's total to 93.2 millimetres which is less than the long-term average of 104.1 millimetres.
The current recording site at Busselton Airport has been used since 1997.
