Children at World of Kids Early Learning Centre in Coodanup are getting their hands dirty to learn about the environment.
A community garden day was held on August 20 at the Early Learning Centre in Coodanup (pictured), where the children got their green thumbs out to make their own community garden.
Centre manager Sunshine Gorry is ecstatic with the results.
“The children had an interest in gardening over the past 12 months,” Ms Gorry said.
“I contacted Bunnings to see what support they could give us to start our own garden.”
Volunteers from Bunnings spent the day helping the children (aged up to five years) create a garden courtyard.
The day gave the children an understanding of the sustainable practices behind growing and caring for plants.
The result was a wonderful native space for the children and families in the community as well as local wildlife and insects.
The children at World of Kids Early Learning Centre have been learning about the environment over the past year.
They started with simple seeds in a cup, followed by an excursion to the Community Garden in Coodanup, then their own vegetable garden and now the creation of a unique garden full of Australian natives.
All the plants, soil, gardening tools and everything in between were donated to World of Kids Early Learning Centre by Bunnings.
Bunnings will also be coming back to paint the garden fence with the children.
