FORMER councillor and Busselton resident Anne Ryan is back in town and keen to return to the city’s council chambers.
Armed with her can-do attitude and quirky sense of humour Ms Ryan said she would run for council in the October election.
Having previously served three terms as a councillor with the City of Busselton she said it was time to forget about the small things and get on with it.
Ms Ryan said she was happy to be back in Busselton and hoped to inspire people by looking at a whole range of reasons which add value to the community.
“We need to think about how we can do things and how we can achieve things rather than just thinking about the monetary value,” she said.
As part of the Keep Busselton Beautiful Committee she would lead by example and pick up rubbish in town because someone had to do it.
“Nobody had been notified which was part of the problem and part of the solution,” she said.
Out of frustration Ms Ryan had the words ‘can do’ added to the council’s strategic plan because she was tired of people’s negative attitudes.
She said people kept saying something couldn’t be done.
“Those little words ‘can do’ make me very proud,” she said.
Ms Ryan said it did her heart good to see people attend council meetings because they cared but it was time for people to stop criticising and talking around in circles.
In order for things to change Ms Ryan said it was important for people to get to the point about what they want, and tell council.
“How can I make you feel happier,” she said.
“I have an overwhelming desire to do good things in this community.”
