THE City of Busselton Civic and Administration Centre will move temporarily as construction begins on the new city offices.
The upgrade to the existing building will commence in a few weeks and will take up to 14 months to complete.
City staff and the Council Chammbers will be relocated to accommodation off-site from December 1.
The city’s Customer Information Centre will be based at the old Tourist Bureau on the corner of Causeway Road and Peel Terrace.
People who wish to lodge applications, make payments, register animals make general enquiries can visit the Customer Information Centre between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Parking is available at Peel Terrace.
Temporary Council Chambers will be set up in the downstairs function room at the Community Resource Centre located behind the Busselton Library.
Council meeting dates and times remain unchanged and are advertised on the city’s website.
Emails and phone contacts remain unchanged.
Most city staff will be relocated to accommodation which is being erected on Harris Road opposite the Old Butter Factory Museum.
This village will be referred to as City Administration.
This site has limited facilities for meetings with the public so some meetings will be held at other venues such as the Community Resource Centre and Customer Information centre.
The City’s Engineering Department is relocating to the city’s works depot in the Busselton Light Industrial Area.
City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said that these temporary facilities will be adequate in the short-term although some flexibility on the part of city staff, councillors and members of the public will be required.
“It’s a very exciting time and everyone at the city is working together to ensure a smooth transition into the temporary facilities,” he said.
