Adam Simpson will remain as head coach at the West Coast Eagles for at least another four years after the football club announced an extension to his contract on Thursday.
Simpson has an impressive track record at the club winning 62 per cent of games since taking the helm at the beginning of the 2014 season.
Formally an assistance coach at Hawthorn, the 39-year-old led the Eagles to an unexpected grand final appearance against his former team in 2015.
Despite defeat, West Coast Eagles chairman Alan Cransberg said Simpson had had a profound impact on the club during his first two years.
"Adam and the playing group have made strong strides towards (sustained success) in the last two years, but we are certainly not satisfied simply by playing in a grand final," he said.
"We want to become a competition benchmark and we believe we are on track."
Simpson said he was pleased to have extended his original three-year contract with the WA club.
"We have an exciting young group that is still building and this week we brought four more young players into the squad via the draft," he said.
"The players will all resume [pre-season training] next week and we are looking forward to starting the next phase of our development.
"We know we have to improve because this competition does not stand still."
