IT appears that the sky is the limit for the Busselton Swimming Club after another amazing display at the SunSmart 2016 Country Championships on January 9 and 10.
Although several members were unable to leave Busselton because of the region's tragic bushfires, 20 swimmers managed to get to Perth to claim an astounding 65 medals against the best swimmers in country WA.
Zoe Butler and Ross Rann led the charge with eight individual medals while Nick Antonio, Isabella Eibrink Jansen, Maddy Johnston-Walker, Chad Kowalski and youngster Amy Kerr all claimed six each.
Liam Wright won four medals, Ella Butler and Neve McDonald each claimed three, Aysha Kemp won two and Isobel Norris claimed one.
Zoe Butler, Eibrink Jansen, Johnston-Walker, Kemp, Kerr, Kowalski, McDonald, Rann and Wright also lay claim to being State Country Champions after claiming gold in at least one event.
Kerr, Kemp and Rann also achieved number one state rankings during the meet.
In addition to individual medals, the club bought home six coveted relay medals with many swimmers racing against older competitors to bring home medals for their team.
It wasn't just the medal winners who had a successful weekend with the team achieving 80 personal best times.
Piper Williams was sensational, claiming seven personal best times from seven swims.
Van Butler and Jed Norris made some significant gains, as did Rikahn Eddington, Eden McDonald and Niamh Jury who swam some amazing personal best times in the 12 and 13 year old girls events.
Charlie Bee and Spencer Drummond swam some great times in their first major meet. It was two swim meets in as many days for the boys who were joined by five other young members at the Rookie Meet on Friday.
Ashley and Sienna Eibrink Jansen, Callum Hannan, Aysha Kemp and Olivia May all swam amazing personal best times at the precursor meet to the Country Championships.
Drummond, Hannan and Kemp also claimed medals at the meet.
Club President, Rob Kerr, said it was incredible to see so many young swimmers participating in such major meets.
He said he was very impressed with the achievements of the Busselton Swimming Club and said it was rare for a club so far from the city to be so influential in Western Australian swimming.
