A COMPREHENSIVE batting display from Margaret River handed them victory over Cowaramup in round 17 of the Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association 2015/16 season.
The Hawks were sent in to bat first by the Bulls and piled on 6/210.
When they took to the field, Matt Kent quickly had Cowaramup on their knees, taking four wickets to leave the Bulls at 5/14.
Mike Hibberd (1), Shane Herbst (0), Lucas Fitzgerald (6), Will Taylor (0) and Kaween De Silva (0) all fell cheaply.
Captain Ben Shepherd (46) offered some resistance with the tail doing their best to support him.
In the end Cowaramup were bowled out for 104.
Over at Churchill Park, St Mary’s sent Yobs in to bat with the visitors amassing 258 from 45 overs.
In reply, St Mary’s were sent packing for 192.
In the B grade competition, Augusta scored a double bonus point win over Cowaramup.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Bulls were dismissed for 122 with Aaron Holben (25) and Adrian McSweeney (38) the only players to make double figures.
In reply Augusta reached the target with two wickets to spare.
Vasse proved too strong for St Mary’s on the back of a half century to Fraser Oates (58).
The team posted 6/196 with St Mary’s dismissed in reply for 153.
Dunsborough made light work of Margaret River with the Hawks bowled out for 135.
Maurice Shinnick top-scored with 62.
Dunsborough reached the target two wickets down thanks primarily to opener Jordan Temple (54 not out).
Dunsborough also took the points in the C grade competition where they proved too strong for Yobs.
Batting first Dunsborough posted 6/152 with Ray Pes finishing not-out on 50.
Scott Maitland (71) got Yobs off to a great start but his teammates crumbled to leave the side all out for 126.
Margaret River were too strong for Nannup posting 6/188 with Alistair McIlroy (65) top scoring in just his second game of the season.
In reply Nannup were left stranded all out for 98 with Pieter Bresser making 43.
To complete the round, St Mary’s churned out a win against Vasse.
Half centuries to Anthony Balkin (71) and Matt Miller (65) saw St Mary’s post 9/236 while Vasse finished their overs 8/160.
Next weekend in the A grade competition Margaret River take on St Mary’s while Cowaramup face off against Dunsborough.
