BUSSELTON signer songwriter Carmine Torricella has filled his latest album Look ‘n’ Back full of his unique style of rock and roll.
Carmine’s latest album was influenced by his love of Latin American and European sounds and old style rock and roll.
Born in Italy, Carmine said he was exposed to Italian and Latin American music but when he came to Australia at 11 years of age he heard rock and roll.
“So rock and roll has been a thing for me and I have blended those styles,” he said.
Many songs on the album have a special meaning for the singer and Carmine said The Old Willow Tree was a song which needs to be listened to and appreciated.
“It is about a husband and wife coming together,” he said.
“The willow tree is the husband and the wind is his wife and they are dancing together.
“The songs I write have a meaning about the good things in life.”
Carmine said he always had a desire to write his own songs but was busy with his family and work earlier in life.
When he retired he sat down and wrote a few songs and travelled which is what most of his songs are about.
“Song writing was something that just happened,” he said.
“Before you write a song you do not know the words and you do not know the tune but you feel an idea of where you are at or what you are thinking about.
“Then you put a few words down and you read the words and it takes you somewhere with the music.
“You get the guitar and strum a few chords and it captures you.”
Carmine recorded his second album in Busselton’s Sonup Studio with producer Phil Strahan who has become a great friend of the songwriter.
A song from Carmine’s first album My Style of Rock ‘n’ Roll was featured on a Nashville record company’s album The Soundtrack of America.
The album Look ‘n’ Back is available on iTunes.
