BUSSELTON Bakers Delight have baked more than 150 pink buns per day since April 21 for this year’s Pink Bun campaign.
Owner Candy Paxton said 100 per cent of the proceeds earned from the sale of their pink buns will be donated to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and their services, which includes the distribution of information packs to people newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
“We are making over 150 buns a day, so we are donating just in finger buns, more than $800 a week to BCNA,” Ms Paxton said. “And that’s just our store alone.”
She said the response from the local community has been great.
“People will give up notes – $5 notes, $20 notes – even if they don’t purchase anything, they’ll just come past and put money in,” she said. “Everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way shape or form, whether it’s family, friends, whatever. It’s all for a good cause and everyone knows what pink stands for now.”
Pink buns are available in Bakers Delight until May 11.
