BUSSELTON’S all-conquering reserves team suffered heartbreak on the final day of the season as their 13 game winning run came to an end on the biggest stage of all.
Five goals to one in the third quarter swung the game Eaton’s way, and condemned minor premiers Busselton to a 14.12 (96) to 10.9 (69) defeat.
The 27 point loss left Busselton to ponder what might have been, with the season promising so much.
Captain Jake Grylls said Busselton “just didn’t rock up to play”, and the mood was understandably glum among the Magpies players.
He was hopeful the bulk of the squad would stay together for next season and would mount another premiership charge.
