SOUTH West band Cape Sun are holding a fundraiser night at the Black Brewery Co on July 2, to raise funds for the Yallingup Rural Fire Brigade.
Lead singer Marie McSweeney said the brigade was in desperate need of equipment and a training facility for existing and new recruits.
“Black Brewery will be donating a percentage of bar takings to this cause,” she said.
“Our fire brigades are so important to us and even though they spend a lot of their unpaid time making sure residents are fire ready, they also need to have their equipment and man power to help out in these situations.”
The Yallingup performer said she hopes people will come and support their volunteer fire fighters.
“After the last Yarloop and previous Margaret River disasters, I realised how much every one does depend on our fire brigade,” she said.
“I would love for the community to get together to help these men who do risk their own lives to save others.”
Busselton guitarist Bob Thomas will join the singer, who has supported artists such as Jon English, Spilt Enz and Cold Chisel in the past, on stage to perform a number of hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s, with a few modern songs of the 21st century thrown into the mix.
Dean Gittos will be their support act.
The performance is at Black Brewery Co from 7pm, July 2.
