NO changes were made to the current dog management controls by City of Busselton Council at its meeting on Wednesday.
City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said the new regulations, which were introduced over the summer season, appear to have been accepted by the broader community.
Mr Henley said council felt the current controls provided a fair balance between people who want to exercise their dogs on the beach and people who want to have a dog-free beach experience especially during the busy summer season.
“There will always be some people who remain vocal in their opposition to the controls, particularly through social media,” he said.
“However, the new regulations have worked well and like any new law will become more accepted over time.”
During the first season of implementation Mr Henley said there were relatively low numbers of warnings and infringements issued by the city in relation to the new controls indicating a fairly sound level of understanding.
In resolving to maintain the current controls, council acknowledged a potential need to consider future refinements to the regulations that may relate to specific situations or locations.
“There may be areas or aspects of the current arrangements that warrant future review and council is prepared to consider these on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with the community,” he said.
