Max McManus was 20 when he had a seizure in a bath at home and died last August.
More than 10 months later, the WA Coronor is yet to hand down a report on Max's death and his mother Jo has been left waiting for answers as to what caused the seizure that claimed her son.
"Max wanted to donate his organs and on the day after his official death he donated his lungs," Mrs McManus said.
"We were told he couldn't donate his heart because the Coroner wanted to do tests on his heart...That was 10 and a half months ago and we still don't have a cause of death," she said.
Mrs McManus said after sharing her story she had been contacted by a number of families in the same situation.
"I've heard from people who have been waiting three years and still don't know," she said.
She said she is concerned there are cases of families who have lost the bread winner.
"This doesn't affect us but...you can not get insurance payouts without a cause of death and Coroner's report.
"The added stress of having to wait and wait is just unfair and it's just wrong."
Attorney-General Michael Mischin told Seven News he has enormous sympathy for family and friends of those who have died and are waiting for answers.
"Proceedings are delayed because of a need to find and take statements from witnesses and to fully investigate the circumstances of a death,
"Sometimes it involves expert evidence from pathologists, forensic pathologists, chemical analysis," he said.
Mr Mischin said the Coroner's Court had 12 full-time employees and two coroners in 2009, which has since doubled to four since 2011.
He said would investigate adding a fifth coroner, but that would depend on advice from the Coroner.
Mrs Mcmanus believes the problem is also down to a lack of funding within the pathology area.
"First preference to alive people who need their pathology done, second preferences to crimes...I understand that," she said.
"But if they are so short staffed that they can't even give us a toxicology report 10 and a half months after Max's death then the state government needs to step in and re-fund."
