STALL holders at the Shed Markets in Abbey have rallied together to support and raise funds for Kate Moir’s campaign to revoke mandatory parole hearings for murderers in Western Australia.
Ms Moir, who is the only surviving victim of serial killers David and Catherine Birnie, is petitioning for the removable of mandatory parole for murderers and repeat sex offenders.
Zebra Lane’s Rebecca Thurley and Siona Wilson were on the hunt for candles when they found out about the campaign.
“We were just looking to buy candles for our shop and came across Koby’s Light (made by Kylie Hansord), which we thought looked and smelt amazing,” Ms Thurley said. “Kylie then told us she did a range for Kate Moir and her cause. We looked into that and thought that it was a great cause and that we would welcome the petitions and the candles in our store and in the Shed Markets as a whole.”
Ten dollars of the sale of every candle will go to Ms Moir’s legal fees, with the rest going to Ms Hansord.
