MUCH loved Aussie musicians Josh Pyke and Bob Evans will be embarking on a national co-headline tour in November and December, visiting Clancy’s Fishpub in Dunsborough along the way.
The duo will perform at the pub on November 26, as part of their Another Evening with Josh Pyke and Bob Evans tour, which also sees them travelling to Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra, Belgrave and Melbourne.
It has been a decade since Pyke and Evans went off around Australia on their first Evening with Josh and Bob, which Evans (aka Kevin Mitchell) said was a fairly rudimental affair.
“We were both very much still finding our feet,” the solo musician and frontman of Jebediah said. “Now, we have higher professional standards to which we hold ourselves and those bawdy jokes of a burgeoning bromance have developed in to, well, bawdy dad jokes.
“Bah, who am I kidding? We’re not that different 10 years on.”
Ten years ago, Pyke recalls working at a record store while he had one song on the radio and was getting ready to record his first album.
“Next thing I knew I was organising a tour with a guy who (though I couldn’t tell him this) was a total hero of mine,” he said. “Kev and I met, hung out, got drunk together and then set off on what was my first proper Australian tour. I learned a lot on that tour about how to do it right, how to perform, how to keep a relationship going back at home.”
Pyke said he could not wait to hit the road with Evans again, have some fun and play some songs.
Although the duo have been busy these past few years – Pyke released his fifth studio album But For All These Shrinking Hearts in 2015, while Evans’ new album Car Boot Sale came out in June this year – they are thrilled to be able to come back together for another road trip around the country.
Pre-sale tickets are available from September 21, with general tickets going on sale at 9am, September 23.
A free download of Pyke and Evans’ tracks What The Future Holds and Desperate will be given away with every ticket sold.
