Thanks to the efforts of one Busselton mum the spectator fee at the Geographe Leisure Centre was abolished by City of Busselton council.
THE $1 spectator fee at the Geographe Leisure Centre was abolished by City of Busselton councillors at its meeting on Wednesday night.
The change came about after a Busselton resident started a petition to remove the fee on change.org which was put forward to the council.
The parent said they had to pay the $1 fee to attend their children’s swimming lesson and did not believe it fitted with community expectations.
The petition which had more than 200 signatures was handed to the council for consideration and was voted in favour of removing the fee 8-nil.
City of Busselton officers recommended to the council that the fee should be removed and noted there would be up to a $7000 deficit in the centre’s revenue this financial year.
