If only every first day on the job involved balloons and a petting zoo.
Princess Charlotte has completed her first royal engagement, attending a party for military families at British Columbia's Government House, in Canada.
The 16-month-old was accompanied by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and older brother Prince George, three, at the event held on day six of the family's Canadian visit.
The royal toddler siblings were certainly enthusiastic guests, accepting balloon flowers and playing with dogs and miniature horses alongside the children of some of Canada's military families, and providing the Mirror with enough cute content to live-blog the event.
(Yes, really.)
According to onlookers, Princess Charlotte was even heard to be talking at the party, with the tot reportedly calling for her "dada" and identifying the balloons as "pop"s.
Prince William got in on the action, asking his daughter, "Are we going to go pop?"
The comments have been interpreted as in reference to the balloons at the event, and not as a sober reflection on the monarchy's declining relevance.
However, with his extra 20 months on this planet, Prince George had a slightly more developed take on the balloons.
The young royal requested party entertainer Paul Kilshaw fashion them into a spider and a volcano for his enjoyment (which, he did).
"He started talking about volcanoes and then about lava," Kilshaw told the Globe and Mail.
Not one to cause a fuss, Princess Charlotte seemed happy with her flower balloon, and the opportunity to view the balloon arch, which she repeatedly broke away from the group to run towards for a closer look.
Running after her was the Duchess of Cambridge. She was wearing a cream-coloured See by Chloé dress, which could be yours for just £320 by ($544) if it had not, as is custom, sold out as soon as she stepped out of the car.
This is the sixth day of the family's eight-day tour of Canada.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge toured the country in 2011, it is Prince George and Princess Charlotte's first visit.
On Friday the family will travel to Haida Gwaii, an archipelago on British Columbia's northern coast, to meet with members of the indigenous Haida Nation.
The group will return to Victoria on Saturday to visit a family crisis centre and take a cruise with mental health advocates before jumping back on their Royal Canadian Air Force jet to head back to Anmer Hall.
