BUSSELTON beaches were closed on Thursday morning after a shark was sighted close to the beach.
A city spokesperson said the shark, estimated to be 2.5m long, was seen at 10.50am about 10m from the shore, about two kilometres east of the jetty, near Morgan Street.
It is not known what kind of shark it was.
There have been regular sightings of sharks in Geographe Bay this year, most of them white pointers.
