PEOPLE interested in doing the Busselton Jetty swim but unsure how to prepare for the event will be happy to know they can join a free training session each week.
From Saturday, the Busselton Masters Swimming Club will begin training for the open water swim with a free training session each week, meeting at the Equinox from 8.30am.
They have opened up the invitation to anyone in the community who would like to start training for the event to join them for their Saturday session.
The club recently participated in the Masters Swimming WA 2016 All Club Challenge at HBF Stadium in Perth finishing eighth overall with five members competing in the event.
Although the club competed with a small group each member set a new personal best time with Sharon Galliers winning the Have a Go news encouragement award.
Busselton Masters Swimming Club president Darryl Kelly said the hard work, training and commitment paid off thanks to their winter coach Peter Pavlinovich.
The club has now started its summer program with supervised coaching at the Geographe Leisure Centre on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm.
For anyone interested in joining the club for their summer season or would like to find out more about training for the jetty swim can email masters@busseltonswimmingclub.com.au.
